Mahindra Convertable SUV - OVERVIEW
The new convertible will get ladder frame underpinnings borrowed from the TUV 300. However, the body will not have any resemblance to the boxy design of the TUV 300. The car is expected to get flowing design lines to attract the young buyers. It is not known if the convertible top will be a hard top or a soft top. Mahindra is known for its unorthodox concepts and the convertible SUV will be the crowd puller this year.
The new drop-top SUV will be under four metres in length and will be built on the TUV300’s underpinnings, but will look nothing like it. Little else is known about it for now but building a convertible out of an SUV – that too on a ladder-frame chassis – is no easy feat. It will be interesting to see how the manufacturer manages to define the proportions of this exciting new concept.
Coming to the powertrain options, the car maker could employ the new upgraded version of 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, mHawk100 diesel. The current version of the unit is tuned to make 100 bhp of max power with peak torque of 240Nm. However, there is no official confirmation if the company will introduce the production version of the Convertible SUV in the domestic market. Mahindra will look to gauge feedback in order to finalize its decision regarding the same.
